The Wind Ensemble is the premiere ensemble of Collinsville High School. It is comprised of approximately 40 students who have attained an exceptionally high level of proficiency on their instruments. Performing the finest available repertoire, the ensemble's performances include traditional wind band literature, classical musical transcriptions, and modern compositions that are continuing to populate the wind band genre. The Wind Ensemble performs 2 concerts in the fall semester and 3 - 4 spring semester concerts including the Music for All Affiliate Metro East Concert Band Festival hosted by O'Fallon Township High School in O'Fallon, Illinois.
The Wind Ensemble is recognized at a local and state level, consistently being selected to perform at the highly competitive University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival, and has performed at prestigious Illinois Music Education Conference.
Wind Ensemble auditions for the following year take place during each Spring semester. Marching band is a pre-requisite to audition for this ensemble, and members must participate in the Hornline or Percussion sections of the Marching Band (based on their primary instrument).
The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mr. Alfredo DeLeon.
