Marching Kahoks
The Collinsville High School Marching Band is undoubtedly the most visible performance ensemble offered at CHS.
Made up of around 110 - 120 members, The marching band, or the "Marching Kahoks," participate in many local events including the Collinsville Memorial Day Parade, America's Birthday Parade in St. Louis, Caseyville Parade, Maryville Parade, Italian Fest, Collinsville Homecoming Parade, Collinsville Veteran's Day Parade, and the Collinsville Christmas Parade. The Marching Kahoks also perform at several competitions throughout the Fall season such as the Metro East Marching Classic, University of Illinois Marching Band Championships, Illinois State Marching Band Championships, Greater St. Louis Marching Band Festival, and the Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional.
The activity ties the aesthetic qualities of music with the physical demands and visual artistry of the marching medium. It gives the individual a chance to participate on a "team," while providing them necessary performance skills. The amount of work and energy involved in the learning and performing of the show is high and very demanding, but is an activity that every student loves and looks forward to every single year because of the bonds and experiences that they make with each other. It is a great way to represent themselves, their band, and Collinsville High School.
The CHS Marching Band is open to all experienced instrumentalists and members of the CHS Color Guard. All members of the marching band must attend Parade Band and Band Camp in order to have a spot in the field show.
The CHS Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Alfredo DeLeon with assistance from Mr. Ryan Goetter.Â
Additional staff include Mr. Gage Peek, Mr. Michael McVickar, Mr. Isaac Border, Mr. Brad Eston, Ms. Jordan Harrington, Ms. Alaiyah Jones, Mr. Miguel Oseguera, and Ms. Kylie Teter
