Oh, my sweet girl, won’t you toss me a rose?
Down from those lofty heights you sit upon
I’d just like one, a blooming bud would do
I walk these thorny, barren paths alone
Each step I take, I look for your embrace
If not a rose, a petal or two
Remember when we once walked hand in hand?
Crowned with cheerful garlands ever so bright
Bosom friends, you placed a blossom in mine
Long ago, you cast a net in the sea
And, in the breadth of its depths, you caught me
That florescence hid, yet never faded
So, come now, dear Thérèse, toss me a rose...
I will be forever grateful to you
I long to be yours again, pure and true
