Levi's Stadium

hey that’s a nice jacket, i used to
have one just like it. i remember
wearing it to a jagger, richards,
wood, and watts gig in santa
clara, ca. it was in this big arena
and it was jam-packed: a sea of
gray hair, wrinkled hands, and a
22-year-old kid. maybe it was the
august air, the thrill, the ecstasy
of being there, or my fresh white
denim getup. i found my own
personal church among concrete;
amplifiers; thousands of plastic
pews. i was dancing, moving my
body, shrouded in my shiny
cotton ridges, swaying my hips.
those stitches couldn’t help but
follow my lead. by the time the
show was over, it smelled of
sweet bay, tobacco, ribbons of
stray marijuana, and warm rum.
yeah it doesn’t fit me anymore,
but at least the music &
memories still do. it’s been three
years, and even now, i think of
my crossfire hurricane threads
every once in a while.
