You follow my words but get lost in them
even when they seem simple to me.
Haven’t you seen the halo around the sun
just hours before the stars arrive?
Or how about the fresh insides of a mango
when it is ripe and you can sink your teeth into it?
Then there’s the fur on my cat’s back,
the potted marigolds opening up
from summer to fall,
unripened persimmons.
But now that I tell you,
I realize none of it is quite right.
You will know when we see it,
when the glow is right before our eyes.
