Perhaps there are those who can live alone
who find solace within themselves who crave
companionship with God's gifts from creation
days 1 through 5 the person who solely absorbs
light lives the land seeks the sea searches the sky
Not I
I need the birdsong of my love's lips upon my cheek
the rain dance of my love's fingers on my skin
the deep pool of my love's eyes into which I submerge
the expansive possibilities we encounter when our two
crossroads merge to build new paths
And I for her
I caulk her seams to waterproof when incidents deluge
steady her gait against rocks that dissemble
hold her left hand if we descend darkly into gyres of doubt
hold her right hand as we climb moondust toward starshine
and bind our thoughts polestar straight to find light
We fit and must always as dusk breathes dawn
as the curvature of the earth kisses the sky
Our scansion rhyming in rhythm
