PAST STAFF - SPRING 2023

Jessica Wyeth

Co-Editor-in-Chief

There are 236 entries in my notes app. Grocery lists, drafted texts, single-word reminders, short vignettes, shared bucket lists, gift ideas, addresses, passwords, workout circuits, prayers, responses to commonly-asked-icebreaker questions, overheard conversations, things to read, things to watch. I am an organized chaos.

Matthew Sawtelle

Co-Editor-in-Chief

Matthew Sawtelle is a senior philosophy major from Dallas, Texas. He loves poetry, especially formal poets like Timothy Steele, James Matthew Wilson, and Robert Frost. When not attempting to recreate the luscious falsetto strains of the Bee Gees, he enjoys learning Latin and bragging to strangers about his highly successful (yet short) career as a collegiate athlete. Matthew hopes to help the CUA community develop a passionate writing culture, and his dream is that Vermilion will inspire people to fall in love with creative writing.

Quotes that describe me better than I could:

Bridget Guinee

Managing Editor

Bridget can be described as a sunset orange sort of color. She enjoys rereading Jane Austen novels and Seamus Heaney poems, color-coordinating events in her Google calendar, and iced dirty chai lattes.  Her personality is (apparently) comparable to that of a squirrel, a goose, and an otter.  Oh, and Bridget is a senior English major with minors in marketing and Irish studies from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Judith Prevost

Website Team

Judith Prevost is a junior English major from North Carolina. She enjoys playing the piano, spending time with her family, and arguing with her sister about Star Wars.

May Rajtboriraks

Events Team

I am a senior in Biomedical Engineering. I love Vietnamese poems and am able to remember some from my Middle School. I like to read Novels and Fiction so I consider myself as a wordy writer (I tend to write indirect introduction).

Isabella Mininni

Social Media Team

Isabella is an English major and Politics minor from Long Island, New York.  She is excited for the opportunity to try her hand at more creative forms of writing and reporting.  After her undergraduate years, Isabella aims to go to law school and eventually become an attorney.

Lauren McGinn

Website Team

I am poor, plain, and extraordinarily obscure, but I am not little, I'm tall.  One of the many ways Jane Eyre and I are different. I spill coffee on everything. Besides my dog, Plato is my greatest kept company. I laugh at my own jokes. I love the smell of cigarettes and gasoline. It worries my family that as long as I have an unending supply of coffee, I would happily waste away under a tree thinking about some philosophical example. I love Chopin and Debussy.  A life goal I have is to spend a day speaking in trochaic tetrameter.

Franchetta Groves

Social Media Team

Franchetta is a Media and Communications Studies Major with minors in politics, theology, and writing. As a Senior in her spring semester she has no shortage of content to write about and can usually be found doing so in the stacks of Mullen Library (her favorite writing spot on campus).

Carolina Beretta

Social Media Manager

Just a brainy girl interested in matters of the heart. If I am not psychoanalyzing the world, I am philosophizing and writing about trivial and complex matters. My other interests include outdoor and adrenaline pumping activities such as hiking, skating, and exploring new heights that bring me closer to the sky.
