ReconX could not be a success without the dedication and hard work of our seniors. Below are some thoughts and reflections from our club president and committee chairs.
I attribute most of the growth that I have gone through in high school, both intellectually and emotionally, to my research journey. Looking back to my freshman year, I was a shy, socially awkward kid who was terrified of speaking to strangers about anything, let alone research. But over time, research has taught me to come out of my box and become more confident in myself and the work I have completed. It taught me to be patient, how to problem solve, and how to think creatively. I’d like to thank Mr. Queenan and Dr. Ellsworth for the amazing guidance and support that they have given to not only me, but the entire High Tech community. My peers have also inspired and pushed me to continue working harder in research and beyond. I am so grateful for all the experiences and connections I have gained through this journey, and I can’t wait to continue it this fall at Yale University, where I will be studying computing & linguistics. Wishing the ReconX community all the best! <3
I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend High Tech and all of the opportunities research and ReconX have given me. Learning in an environment where all of your peers are as motivated as you are and teachers who are constantly pushing you to succeed is the most stimulating environment. Research has not only pushed me to excel in science but has also given me communication, networking, and public speaking skills. Mr. Queenan and Dr. Ellsworth have been the backbone of our research department and we as students attribute all of our success to them. Research has given me the opportunity to present at numerous conferences and publish four professional papers. I will forever take the experiences I have gained from High Tech’s research program and continue pursuing my dreams at Duke University where I will be studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. I love my ReconX community and wish all of the best for its future!! ❤️
For the last four years, High Tech has encouraged me to explore STEM and research, especially through ReconX. I’m so thankful for the opportunities ReconX has created for me – from connecting with like-minded peers during research mentorship, to learning from and impacting others in the club, and for all the incredible experiences at competitions. Research allowed me to explore my interests and apply them to fulfilling, real-life solutions. I hope that I will be able to continue performing research throughout my time at the Cooper Union, where I plan to major in mechanical engineering starting this fall.
