Class of 2026 Research Practicum

HTHS Research Practicum

Research Practicum is a required course for all sophomores at HTHS. The goal of this course is to put into practice the research skills and knowledge gained in our Introduction to Research (ITR) class taken during freshman year. At the end of ITR, all students propose a research question or engineering problem and then design a research project to answer their question or solve the problem posed. Then, during their  sophomore year, all students work independently to carry out their research. The course is designed to give students an authentic research experience; from  exploring the work of experts in the field,  designing and revising experimental procedures, organizing and analyzing data, and reporting their findings in a final paper and oral presentation. Many of our students also chose to enter their projects in science fairs to compete against some of the top research students in the state, the country and the world. We are proud to share with you the research presentations from the class of 2026!

As part of the Research Practicum course, our sophomores created recorded presentations of their research study.

This year, sophomore students abstracts were compiled in an anthology, which will serve to commemorate the work done by this year's Research Practicum class.
