Nearpod

Create interactive lessons in minutes. Save prep time by importing existing lessons (pdfs, jpegs, ppts) and adding Virtual Field Trips, Collaborate boards, Quizzes, Polls, Matching Pairs activities + more. Or, start in Google Slides add your favorite Nearpod activities.

Once you've created an interactive lesson, you can synchronize and control lessons across all student devices. Teachers share a live session, students enter a code, and the lesson is synced to all devices. Lessons can also be student paced during asynchronous time. Simply choose how you want to engage with your class and the lesson.

+ FEATURED ACTIVITIES

With Nearpod, you can include activities in any slideshow as you go. These activities include:

NOTE: There are even “brain break” activities, like a matching game, and a drawing feature to keep kids interested and engaged.

+ LAUNCH A LESSON

There are two ways to launch a lesson: live or student paced

To launch a Live Lesson (teacher based)

1 Click Launch Live Lesson, Nearpod will provide a student code to join and experience the interactive content. Students can join via the web or on any device that has the free Nearpod app.

2 Share this code with your students via MYCSW

To launch a student-paced lesson

1 Select Launch Student-Paced Lesson

2 Nearpod will create a code. Share this code with your students in MYCSW. Students can then join the lesson and work through the content and interactive modules on their own time. You will receive student reports and feedback on individual student progress in your account.

NOTE: If you'd like to keep the session LIVE for 14 days, make sure when you leave the session you don't end it. A pop up will ask if you want to RESUME later.

+ RESUME A LIVE SESSION OR HAVE MULTIPLE LIVE SESSIONS FOR DIFFERENT CLASSES

You can have multiple Live Lessons if you teach multiple blocks of the same course. You can also resume a Live Lesson you didn't finish with your students.

1 From the Lesson in your Dashboard, select Live Lesson.

2 If you did not end the session in your previous class (kept it ACTIVE), you will be prompted with a list of sessions that are still LIVE. That means you can pick up right where you left off last time.

3 Select the Lesson from the List you'd like to resume (you will see the custom code attached). Nearpod saves these "lessons in progress" for 14 days.

+ ZOOM and nearpod

With a Live Lesson (teacher based), you can synchronously work through a lesson over zoom without having to share your screen. Students open Nearpod in the browser and create a "side by side" with zoom so you all can interact, see each other, and work through content together.

To launch a Live Lesson (teacher based)

1 Click Launch Live Lesson, Nearpod will provide a student code to join and experience the interactive content. Students can join via the web or on any device that has the free Nearpod app.

2 Share this code with your students via MYCSW

3 Student creates two side by side windows on their screen: one of Nearpod and one of Zoom (see example at right).
