Dr. Powell focuses on police accountability and police reform issues. Some of his recent projects examine the efficacy of deadly force legislation, the administrative burden of police complaint systems, how police department reputations change after police reform, and de-policing topics. Dr. Powell is pursuing external funding for these projects to support student research assistants.
