GIS to perform spatial analysis of crimes, as well as to predict crime hotspots.
Relational Database Management System to maintain database
Business Intelligence to present data and findings in intuitive visual formats, such as BI dashboard.
Applied research methodology skills to evaluate the effectiveness of crime control policy.
Dr. Fujita's research interests include spatial and temporal analysis of street crimes (e.g., homicides, robberies, burglaries, and auto theft), including hotspot analysis, point pattern analysis, spatial regression, as well as repeat and near-repeat analysis, crime prevention through environmental design, and situational crime prevention. He seeks how he can effectively visualize data and/or research findings.
