A Clinical Coach will typically conduct a minimum of six periodic observations for the candidate (in addition to two formal observations), spaced evenly throughout the semester. At least one of of the periodic observations each semester should be a video-based observation.

During Periodic Observation
The Clinical Coach will typically:
observe the Teacher Candidate working with students and/or conducting a lesson.
note the TPE criteria observed and any opportunities for TPE-based tips/feedback.
prioritize the TPEs emphasized in the program's monthly focus areas.
briefly check-in with the Cooperating Teacher and/or with site administrator (as time/setting allows).
The Teacher Candidate will typically:
engage in work with students and/or conduct a lesson, taking mental notes of questions or teaching evidence to discuss with the Clinical Coach.
After Periodic Observation
The Clinical Coach will typically:
record a brief summary of the observation in My SLP (including date, if the observation was in-person or virtual, summary of what was observed, any TPE-based observation notes/feedback).
"coach up" the candidate by offering at least 2 "TPE-based Tips" based on the observation during a discussion or post-conference.
help the candidate set at least one TPE-based goal for future teaching practice.
