OBJECTIVE:
This activity provides a comprehensive introduction to Google Docs, helping students develop essential digital literacy skills for their academic and professional futures.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this activity, students will:
Understand how to create, format, and edit documents in Google Docs.
Be able to insert images, links, and tables into a document.
Use Google Docs’ collaboration features effectively, including commenting and suggesting edits.
Share documents and manage permissions for collaborative work.
Apply templates and advanced formatting features in document creation.
1. Introduction to Google Docs (10 minutes)
Student Task: Log in to your Google accounts, navigate to Google Docs, and create a new blank document.
2. Document Creation and Basic Formatting (20 minutes)
Student Task:
Title: Type a title for the document (e.g., "My First Google Doc_Surname&Surname").
Text Entry: Enter "My College Journey Expectation" as a title and enter a body in one paragraph with 5 sentences.
Formatting:
Font: Change the font type(Arial), size(12), and color(Pink/ Girls, Blue/Boys).
Alignment: Practice aligning text (Title (center))-(Body (Justify)).
Bold/Italic/Underline: Apply these styles to parts of the text. (Title (Bold and Underline), Body (Italic)
Lists: Create a bulleted 1st impression during your 1st day.
3. Inserting Images, Links, and Tables (15 minutes)
Student Task:
Image: Insert an image related to the document’s content (Picture in the Institution).
Link: Add a hyperlink to your Facebook account of your picture.
Table: Insert a table with 4 rows and 4 columns and add details about 3 of your classmates. Name-Sex-Age-Civil Status.
4. Using Comments and Suggestions (15 minutes)
Student Task:
Commenting: Highlight a section of text and leave a comment (write your name on the comment)
5. Document Sharing and Collaboration (20 minutes)
Student Task:
Sharing: Share the document with your classmate or group and let them edit by entering Shared by your group's name.

6. Using Templates and Advanced Features (Optional Extension, 15 minutes)
Student Task:
Advanced Formatting: Add a header, footer, or page number to the existing document.
