To assist adult learners, District 99 has adopted a framework to use during professional learning experiences.

The components in this framework can be utilized in any order and as many times as needed to make the professional learning meaningful.  All District 99-supported professional learning uses this framework to guide adult learning.

All professional learning activities within District 99 should be focused on personalizing the learning and experiences of students.  To help focus professional learning, District 99 recommends approaching personalized learning through one or more of the following themes.

Flexible Learning Experiences: Flexible teaching options which encourage anytime/anywhere learning and student choice to demonstrate understanding.

Deep Learning:  Focused learning through creating and mastering knowledge, which includes character education, citizenship, communication, critical thinking/problem solving, collaboration, technology competencies, information literacy, and creativity/imagination as well as content learning standards. 

Learning Partnerships:  Caring relationships and involvement in the learning process among students, teachers, parents, the local community, and the world, which includes connecting student aspirations, the right kind of feedback, and learning to learn.
