Agility, reliability and scalability

That's what we need for a modern digital infrastructure. So we set up one ground rule :

Everything in the cloud!

We have no servers on premise. Everything is in the Cloud at OVH. It's way cheaper, more reliable and a hundred times more agile. It also means that we need almost no capital expenditure.

To take full advantage of this :

• We put eveything in the cloud, even telephony : we rent the service to OVH ; it's TOIP, easy to manage and very cheap.
• We use SAAS solutions whenever we can, for administrative software as well as scientific software on demand.
• We host open-source solutions on our cloud when it's possible. In 2017, they are becoming at least as good as commercial solutions for almost all functions.

We also adopt innovative practices :

• We buy used top-range computers to an association (Ecodair). It's cheaper, ecological and socially responsible.
• We are looking at full-cloud personal computers for students and staff, like Chromebooks.

The only infrastructure we need for all this is top-range internet network and perfect Wifi access. We are linked to internet via RENATER network ; unfortunately, we access it through Descartes University infrastructures, which limits what we can do. Please be patient, we are working on it.
