Earning PDPs in CPS
Most professional learning experiences offered to CPS teachers also offer Professional Development Points (PDPs). This includes trainings or workshops that occur during contractual time, trainings or workshops that occur during the 35 contractual professional development hours, and courses that offer Masters Plus credits. Under DESE guidelines, professional development activities must devote a minimum of 10 hours to a particular topic in order to be eligible for PDPs.
In addition to earning PDPs through CPS professional learning experiences, CPS teachers can earn PDPs by:
Leading a choice course or Masters Plus course (educators who develop and present a minimum of three separate sessions in a professional development series are eligible to receive twice the number of PDPs given to participants, with the presenter receiving a minimum of 10 PDPs and a maximum of 24 PDPs). Serving as a Mentor Teacher in the New Teacher Induction Program (maximum 15 PDPs per year). Learn more here.
Completing an out-of-district seminar or institute (1 clock hour = 1 PDP).
Completing a graduate course or approved equivalent (1 credit = 22.5 PDPs).
