CPS Orientation for Paraprofessionals

Once you have completed the hiring process with the Office of Human Resources, you will be invited to attend an in-person orientation at the CPS District Offices at 135 Berkshire Street (please see below for upcoming orientation dates). 

Prior to attending the orientation session, please complete the following steps:

Step 3: Complete two or more online training modules

• Required Para 111 - Paraeducator Roles and Responsibilities in the Classroom (Text Version or Video Version) (45 min)

And at least one additional course depending on your particular placement. For many paras, PARA 110 - Classroom and Behavior Management, will be a natural second module to complete.b If you are a paraprofessional in a general education classroom, you might also complete PARA 109 - Supporting Students with Accommodations and Modifications, or you might select a module related to one of the content areas (e.g. reading, writing, mathematics) that you support in the classroom. If you are working in an SEI program, you might complete one of the modules related to supporting English language learners (ELLs, also referred to as MLLs).

Step 5: Attend an in-person orientation session

Once you have completed the steps above, please attend one of our upcoming in-person orientation sessions, where you will:

• Learn more about the Cambridge community and the Cambridge Public Schools;

• Learn about the supports offered from the Cambridge Public Schools and the Cambridge Educators Association (CEA), including information about our ongoing induction program; and

• Hear from an experienced Day-to-Day Substitute and have your questions answered!
