What is a "Choice Course?"

In an effort to ensure that CPS teachers and paraprofessionals have the opportunity to engage in learning experiences that are relevant and meaningful to their practice, our district has set aside 10 of the 35 contractual professional development hours for educator-driven "Choice Courses." A Choice Course is an approved, 10-hour learning experience that takes place outside of the school day and may include:

Propose a Choice Course

CPS students have better learning experiences when educators share their expertise with their colleagues. By sharing your knowledge and insights, you can empower your fellow educators with tools and strategies that will enable them to promote equity and access across all CPS classrooms and learning spaces. Search and Register For a Choice Course

To find a choice course that meets your professional needs and interests, please log onto the Professional Learning Platform (using your CPS credentials) and follow the steps outlined here. Upcoming courses can also be found here!

All Teachers and Paraprofessionals are expected to complete a Choice Course each year!
