CPS Orientation for Day-to-Day Subs

Once you have completed the hiring process with the Office of Human Resources, you will be invited to attend an in-person orientation at the CPS District Offices at 135 Berkshire Street (please see below for upcoming orientation dates).

Prior to attending the orientation session, please complete the following steps:

Step 1: Access your Master Teacher account

You should have received an email from support@masterteacher.com
Accept the terms and conditions and set up a password
To Log in Go To: portal.masterteacher.net
Log in using your district email
Enter the Password you created
Enroll

Step 2: Click the Substitute Teacher Online training box

Please note: The recommended web browser for this program is Mozilla FireFox or Google Chrome, if you are using Internet Explorer your courses may not open and/or save properly.

Step 3: Complete two or more online training modules

Required STLN 101 - Introduction to Being a Substitute Teacher (45 min)

And at least one additional course from the following:

STLN 102 - Making Connections and a Good Impression (45 min)
STLN 103 - The First 30 Seconds (45 min)
STLN 104 - Being an Effective Classroom Manager (45 min)

Step 4: Complete additional state-required required trainings

All CPS educators are required to complete a series of state-mandated, self-guided modules on a range of topics such as harassment and discrimination, mandated reporting (51A), and bullying prevention. You can access these online modules here (please log in with your CPS Google Account using the Google symbol at the bottom). (60 min)

Step 5: Attend an in-person orientation session

Once you have completed the steps above, please attend one of our upcoming in-person orientation sessions, where you will:

Learn more about the Cambridge community and the Cambridge Public Schools;
Learn about the supports offered from the Cambridge Public Schools and the Cambridge Educators Association (CEA), including information about our ongoing induction program; and
Hear from an experienced Day-to-Day Substitute and have your questions answered!

Tuesday, November 5th from 12-3 PM
Thursday, January 2nd (time TBD)

Please note:

You will NOT be able to begin your substitute teaching until you have completed the steps above.
You will be paid at your hourly rate for both the in-person and asynchronous, online components of your orientation program, on successful completion of each component.
