Alumni Night would be a night when alumni are home (most likely before a long weekend or break) where they can come to Payton and be interviewed by committee members, current Payton students, and parents about college and the college application process. Alumni would interact with juniors and seniors and give them advice on how to shape their high school career and structure their college essays. This night would include food/drink (the only potential cost of the event) and speeches from alumni about their high school experience.
Current Status: Currently working to gather Alumni and fix a date.

The Club Committee serves as the liaison between Payton’s diverse student organizations, the administration, and Student Government to ensure every club has the support it needs to thrive. A central focus of our work is organizing Cultural Fair, which is a celebratory event where clubs showcase their unique identities through food sales, merchandise, and performances. To streamline communication, we are also developing a club calendar to keep leaders informed and organized. Our goal is to build a culture where clubs are well-connected and students can easily engage with the activities they enjoy.
Current Status: Reaching out to club leaders and starting Cultural Fair planning

The goal of this project is to highlight Payton’s unique community through fun, short videos that foster connection amongst the student body as well as serve as a window into WPCP’s vibrant student life for those outside of Payton. Some video examples include: guessing candy, trivia questions, guess the lyrics, favorite things about Payton, and so much more. Payton students are so much more than their test scores, we’re dynamic and special in our own ways and this side should be celebrated and recognized just as much as our grades are.
Current Status: We’ve begun planning ideas for future videos with the student body and are in the process of filming.

The Junior Prom at Payton will be a night to remember, held aboard a boat docked just off Navy Pier in early May. Exclusively for juniors, the dance will offer a fun and relaxed way to celebrate the school year with friends. On the lake students will enjoy stunning views of Chicago. Music, dancing, and laughter will fill the decks, creating a festive and memorable atmosphere. The unique setting will transform a classic school dance into an unforgettable experience.
Current Status: We’ve begun contacting the owners of the venue and started planning out ways to fundraiser. We have a Double Good fundraiser planned for the week of 12/8. Stay tuned for more info later this year!

This Commitee we have been updating this very website, AAA. Specifically the club website portion and this Initative tab (the one you are on right now!). The Club Website will allow students to learn about clubs that are offered within Walter Payton, this will include the google classroom code, their past achievements, and prerequisites needed to join the club (if any). Payton has a variety of clubs that meet every enrichment, but these club meetings can be confusing, if they aren't advertised. This website will aim to inform students about the clubs that occur at Payton, alleviating the confusion when, where, and why a club meets!
Current Status: We have just completed updating the Student Government website with new information about all the clubs here at Payton; make sure to check it out when you have time!

Student Government is about STUDENTS. This initiative aims to add more student input into the events that we do in student government, and would involve two google forms sent to all students at the start of every year. The first google form would be sent at the beginning of the school year and would provide a space for students to suggest important events that they feel are needed for the year (this could be holiday event suggestions, or for events like a voter registration event, etc.). After going through these responses, the second form would be sent out a couple weeks into the school year and would have events that student government has either brainstormed or responses from the first google form that are voted upon as doable and useful events. The point is: there are many opportunities for little holiday events/events that could help increase school/holiday spirit and bring the student body together.
Current Status: We had this event, Hot Chocolate stand, which was from 12/15-12/19.

The PR Committee plays a major role in keeping the Payton community informed, engaged, and excited about everything happening at our school. Our team works behind the scenes to make sure students know about upcoming events, opportunities, and announcements in a way that is both fun and easy to access. Whether it’s creating TikToks, designing Instagram posts, or crafting creative promotional ideas, we are always looking for new ways to share what’s going on around Payton. Overall, the PR Committee is dedicated to making sure students stay connected and in the loop. By sharing news in engaging and accessible ways, we help strengthen Payton’s community and ensure that every student has the information they need to make the most of their high school experience.
Current Status: We have begun filming a new video series about members of StudGov coming soon. We’ve also been working on making posts for Instagram to keep the student body updated!

The goal of this project is to increase the transparency between what Student Government is working on with the students. The info will be put in the pulse and will likely be updated monthly. People are constantly asking what we actually do during enrichments, so this will finally give them easy access to answers!
