Dear Parents,

My name is Mrs. Fiallos, and I am your child’s 6th grade English Language Arts teacher. I am looking forward to a very successful year, and I know you are too. I have high expectations for my students and will do all that I can to help them succeed. 

This year we will be reading a variety of literature and informational texts.  We will be studying an array of topics including culture, identity, courage, fairness, and perspective. Our writing will be both creative and research-based. The list goes on, but I just wanted to give you a few of the highlights!

Finally, please know that I see us as partners in your child’s education. I will update your child’s grades each week so that you will have the most accurate reflection of his/her performance in class. Please sign up and check your Parent Portal weekly. That way if you have any questions or concerns about any reading or writing grades, you can reach out to me. I will also be in contact if I notice your child is struggling, not completing work, etc. Please know that I may also send you an email just to let you know some of the great things your child is doing in class, as I know that hearing positive feedback is just as important.
