Hello! My name is Mrs. Volpe and I am the 5th grade math teacher here at PPS!
A little bit about me.....I was born in Chicago and attended Northwestern University in Evanston (go 'Cats!). There I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Environmental Science. I then went to graduate school and received my MA in Developmental Psychology and MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University Chicago. I've been at Portage Park School for over 20 years, so needless to say I love it here!
I come from a CPS family. My husband is a Director in the CPS Information Technology department, and our teenage daughter also attends a CPS school. Even my parents are connected to CPS, with my dad retiring after teaching HS foreign languages for 47 years and my mom retiring after being a SECA for 10 years.
When I'm not at Portage Park School, I enjoy traveling, reading, playing/watching soccer, brushing up on my Italian and Spanish, and spending time with my family, and friends, most of who all live in Chicago!
I truly believe that as humans we are ALL mathematicians, and *anyone* can learn *anything* when we have a growth mindset and a curiosity to keep us thinking!
