Hello everyone!
All the material on this page is created by Notre Dame Academy students. Despite the difficulties of COVID-19, we wanted to serve the students of Covington. Each week we will provide fun activities and assignments to help students learn during this difficult time.
As a bonus, we will also provide some foreign language flashcards later in the club.
Parents and guardians, we thank you for helping with your child’s education and preparing them for their future!
Thank you,
Dani and Gwyneth, Math Club Presidents at NDA
Welcome back from break! This week we have two sets of learning cards. One set will help your child recognize and identify numbers 1-20 and their word counterparts (one = 1). In the next set of learning cards students will count fish 1-10, and identify the word values of numbers 1-10. These learning cards will be the foundation for future lessons. Even if your child is experienced with these skills we ask that you still go over the cards with them for extra practice.
BONUS: Additionally, we have attached a reading log so that you can keep track of how much your student reads.
See you next week!
This week we have activities for grades K-3rd!
For all grades there is a reading log to record how much your student reads. We recommend fifteen minutes a day. Encourage your student to persist through the worksheets, and if they are really struggling, Khan Academy has some great video tutorials that can help. This is great practice for the future!
For kindergarten we have a color by number worksheet. We also have a Quizlet for learning numbers 1-20. This Quizlet can also help with the color by number if your child needs a refresher.
There are two worksheets for 1st grade. The first worksheet will have your student match the picture of a coin to its name and worth. The second worksheet is a “color by the coin” where they will color an ice cream cone based on identifying the correct coins.
For 2nd grade, the student will be completing a “Can you buy the item?” worksheet where they will count the amount of money they have and determine if they have enough to buy that item.
Finally there is one worksheet for 3rd grade. This worksheet asks the student to answer a series of questions about money and shopping.
Kindergarten: For this week, there is a set of flashcards for identifying numbers 1-20. There are also two color by number worksheets that are included on the same Google Doc.
1st Grade: This week’s lesson includes a worksheet with addition and subtraction word problems.
2nd Grade: There are two worksheets for second grade. In one worksheet students will be asked to choose what items they would like to buy and to find the monetary value of the items. In the second worksheet, students will count coins to practice their money skills.
3rd Grade: In these two worksheets, students will practice their money skills. The first includes money related word problems, and in the other worksheet, students will choose what items they would like to buy with their birthday money.
This week, we have activities for K-4th grade. Feel free to utilize any of the lessons (even if they are marked for a different grade). Some lessons may be great practice, while other lessons may be new content.
Kindergarten: We are continuing to work on identifying numbers. There are two flash card sets: one focusing on identifying numbers and another on counting.
1st grade: There is one document that includes three color by number worksheets that focus on addition and subtraction skills.
2nd grade: There is one money skill worksheet where the student will match the candy to the correct amount of change.
