Each student is very important with a very exciting future! This year, we will discover all of the possibilities for your future. When you learn about the different career paths, you will learn about what makes you special and how your strengths can fit into different jobs and careers. You will also be able to play the Career Game and earn your certificate! It will be so exciting to discover and learn about your future career, so...get ready to enjoy the journey!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an Uber driver? This type of job is called the "gig economy" because you get paid by the amount of "gigs" you complete.
So, kids should understand how this can fit into their career and money plans!
The Uber Game will give you a scenario to help you understand how this can fit into their career and money plans. Some people have gigs as their full-time jobs, while others use gigs are their second job. Other gig jobs may be a freelance artist or a musician.
Play the Uber Game and see if you can make your $1,000 mortgage payment.
Afterward, reflect on the game and answer the following questions:
Did you make your mortgage payment? Why or why not?
Hour many days and hours per week did you work?
Are there any gig jobs you can think of that sound interesting to you?
Join the Curious Kids as they explore some interesting and unusual career options with a fascinating array of people who have dared to follow their dreams. Their visits range from marine biologist working with dolphins to a dancer who has crafted a successful second career to an artist whose LEGO sculptures and books reach a global audience. The cast learns that flexibility, persistence and imagination can be good allies when it comes to considering a profession.
After you've watched the video, make a list of three careers you would like to know more about.
It's time to do more research on a career of your choice. Choose one career from last week's list, and use the internet to research information about that career. Younger students can use the worksheet, while older students (grades 4-5) should use the list of guiding questions to write a short essay about their career of choice.
After you have finished your research, congratulations, you have completed My Career Journey!
1. Introduction – Give a short description of the career you have chosen to research and explain why you are interested in that career.
2. Skills and Education/Training – Explain what skills are desirable for the career you chose. What education and/or training are required?
3. Working Environment/Conditions – Describe in detail what the working environment and conditions will be for this career. Will you work in an office, outside, or at home? Will you have to travel?
4. Salary – What is the average salary for this career choice? How much can you expect to make right when you start? Can you receive raises? How does the salary compare from state to state?
5. Advantage/Disadvantages – What are the advantages and disadvantages of this career? Is the salary an advantage or disadvantage? Do you have the opportunity to travel and see places without having to spend your own money?
6. Conclusion – Explain how you are suited to this career. What qualities do you possess that could help you in this career? What interests would help you succeed in this career choice? Have you often been told, “You should become a _________________ because ___________________.”
