Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a neurological condition characterized by challenges with stimuli and the senses.. Different children experience SPD in different ways. Children with SPD can be overwhelmed (e.g. reactive to loud noises) or under responsive (e.g. need to bump into things). Sensory processing problems are often demonstrated by students with disabilities-autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and attention/hyperactivity disorders (ADD/ADHD). The resources on this topic will provide an understanding of this disorder and offer insights and strategies to support students in inclusive classrooms.
