What are the parts of Medicare?
Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Part B (Medical Insurance)
Part C (Prescription drug coverage)
Important Things to Know:
You must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B to participate in the California Schools VEBA
Kaiser Sr. Advantage plan and submit copies of your Medicare card for you and your dependents with the enrollment form included in this mailing.
You will continue to have access to the same doctors and Kaiser facilities as you do today.
If you want to opt-out of the California Schools VEBA Kaiser Sr. Advantage plan or explore an alternative option with Compton Unified School District, please contact the Benefits Department at 310-639-4321 Ext. 55132 or email lfigueroa@compton.k12.ca.us. If you do not enroll with California Schools VEBA, you cannot comeback on the plan at a future date.
Important Things to Know:
You must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B to participate in the Aetna MAPD Plan.
Put your Medicare card in a safe place in case you need it later. You will use only your Aetna ID card for Medical and Prescription Drugs.
You can use any willing Medicare medical provider, regardless of if the provider is in or out of the Aetna network.
No referrals are needed for Medicare covered medical services.
You should continue to be able to use almost any retail pharmacy as Aetna includes over 66,000 in-network pharmacies, nationwide.
Aetna also offers a Mail Order Pharmacy called CVS Caremark for your convenience. If you would like to use the CVS Caremark Mail Order Pharmacy, you will need new prescriptions.
You do not need new prescriptions for retail pharmacies. Simply show your new ID card and your refills will be processed under the Aetna MAPD Plan.
Please note: The CalPERS plan will no longer be available effective January 1, 2025. If you chose to not enroll into the Aetna MAPD, you will not have Medical and Prescription Drug coverage through Compton Unified School District.
