Welcome to Learning In Public
Once a Big 10 Portfolio is finalized by the student and is ready to be submitted for review, students use the Big 10 Submission Form to send the link to their Document or Google Drive Folder.
Big 10 portfolios are submitted separately (one Big 10 per form submission).
STEP 1: Submission by Student via the Big 10 Submission Form
The student completes a Big Ten portfolio and submits it through the submission form.
STEP 2: Initial Review by Lab Faculty
The student's Lab Faculty reviews the submission against the criteria for each component and either approves the submission or requests additional information from the student.
“Approved” portfolios move to a second assessor. “Request for More Information” portfolios get sent with feedback to the student for revision and resubmisison.
STEP 3: Review by Second Assessor
A second assessor reviews the Big Ten submission, either approving or requesting more information if further clarification or evidence is needed.
“Approved” portfolios move forward to be credited. “Request for More Information” portfolios get sent with feedback to the student for revision and resubmission.
STEP 4: Final Approval and Crediting
If both the Lab Faculty and the second assessor approve the submission, the Big 10 is sent through the crediting process. Students receive confirmation when their Big 10 is complete and can see the portfolio credited on their Degree Audit.
Make sure you Share your Big 10 portfolio materials so that they are viewable by people with the link.
If all of your Big 10 Portfolio materials are located in a single folder for that Portfolio, you can apply this Share setting to the folder. If your materials are separate, please ensure that you adjust the share settings on each document.
How to change Share settings for folders and files in Google Drive
Select your Big 10 Submission Documents or Folder
Three ways to get to Share Settings:
Select the 3 vertical dots next to the document/folder
Select the Share icon on the top menu
Right click on the document/folder and select the Share menu from the drop down
From the Share menu, select the drop down menu under "General Access"
Select "Anyone with the link"
Then, next to "Anyone with the link", select the Role drop down and select "Viewer"
If a Big 10 portfolio goes through each step without issue, the assessment process takes 4-6 weeks from submission to crediting.
Big 10 can sometimes get delayed. Here are some reasons why:
If links, emails and or information are inaccurate in any way.
An assessor requests additional information or clarification directly from the student.
An assessor chooses to "Request more info" and send the portfolio back to the student for revision.
Big 10 portfolio submissions are reviewed using Form Approvals, an application that tracks step-by-step workflows from a Google Form. Form Approvals allows you to view the status of your Big 10 submission as it moves from assessor to assessor.
When you submit your Big 10 portfolios, you'll receive a confirmation email with a linked tracking number and the "Track request" link provided at the top. "Request" refers to your Big 10 Portfolio Submission.
A great practice is to keep the tracking link for each of your portfolio submissions somewhere you can easily access.

Organized in your email inbox
If you have not received a Confirmation email within several hours of submitting, it is likely due to a misspelling of your email address in the form. Please contact Big10@collegeunbound.edu so we can fix the email address and re-send your confirmation.
When you click the link to track your "request", you'll be taken to a Form Approvals page that shows the current status of your submission:
This request is at the first assessor stage (your Lab Faculty).
The overall status of your submission is in the top right corner. Your status may be any of the following:
Request at the second assessor:
Request at the crediting step:
Request back at the student's submission step:
More info requested - first assessor (Lab Faculty)
Request back at the student's submission step:
More info requested - second assessor
