Faculty: Let your student know if they have disclosed a disability to you, have them reach out to accessibility@collegeunbound.edu If you have your student's permission to reach out on their behalf, reach out to the email above and cc the student, stating you had permission to advocate on their behalf.
After reaching out to the Accessibility Organizer at CU, students will begin the iteration process of registering for Accessibility support at CU.
The steps are outlined below:
A student must register with the office to receive support.
Once a student reaches out, they must schedule an appointment with the Accessibility Organizer so that their request can be discussed and reviewed. This can be in person if in RI, on the phone, or on zoom.
This initiates an interactive process between the Accessibility Organizer and the student. The Accessibility Organizer will let the student know what materials they might need to compile in order to officially register with the College to receive accommodations.
Following this process, if documentation is produced and there are reasonable accommodations that can be implemented, a formal letter is provided to the student detailing their accommodations. A student can also request that their Lab Faculty receive this letter to better understand their needs and accommodations.
To receive accommodations, a student must send a letter to their faculty member in advance of their needs, as accommodations cannot be implemented retroactively.
