Go into and began working on your Moodle course (Review Checklist for Your Moodle Course)
Your course in Moodle should be ready for review. This includes:
A welcome message
The updated syllabus
Major assignment guidelines
Guidance on the structure and flow of the course
Agendas, activities, materials, & assignments for Weeks 1-3 in Moodle
This video (12:26 minutes) walks you through how to get Moodle up and ready. You can use this checklist. Check out this video for Lab Faculty on setting up their course- 8:18 minutes
On Monday of the week, instructors should:
Include dates within Topic Headings for each week
Use the Due Date feature for all assignments (Using Due Dates & Completion Dates - 4:55 minutes)
Open the course (how to open up a Moodle course - 1 minute)
Post an announcement in Moodle course to welcome students in (Announcements will be emailed to students about 30 minutes after posting).
Online classes: Post the Zoom link for the course
If you are teaching a synchronous course, be sure to both post the Zoom link in your Moodle course and to send it out to students. This video (2:00 minutes) shows you how to post the Zoom link as a link in your course. As for emailing it to students, if you Add a Discussion to your Announcement forum, it will also be emailed to students.
Complete the Attendance: Engagement tool within your Moodle course by Monday morning of the following week (see this video: 9:20 minutes)
Schedule your 1-1s with students for Weeks 1 & 2
Make sure all students show up for live session and/or are active in Moodle. Contact the student (and include the lab faculty) for students that miss class without communicating and/or absent from Moodle in the first 5 days. Lab Faculty can be found in students' profile in Campus Cafe.
Nudge students to join the Moodle Space
By Thursday of Week 1, go into your course and select "Participants" under the course title at the top. See who has not yet entered the course. Send them an email checking in and encouraging them to check out Moodle.
Spend Time in Moodle With Your Students During Class:
Live classes should include time to walk students through how YOU are using Moodle and how you expect them to use it. If you teach an asynchronous course, consider doing a video recording (using Zoom + the Share Screen function) to give students a tour of the space. Also, remind students that they can learn and practice in Moodle and Online Learning 101, a self-paced course that all students are enrolled in within Moodle.
Complete the Attendance: Engagement tool within your Moodle course by Monday morning of the following week (see this video: 9:20 minutes)
Reach out to student and Lab faculty member if the student has missed their 1-1.
Begin to provide feedback and grades for any work that has been submitted.
Feedback on all assignments should be returned 1 week or sooner.
Think about how you want to give feedback for students. This video (9:13 minutes) has some recommendations.
For the gradebook to provide the clearest picture, 0s have to be entered for work not submitted. We recommend to not put in 0s until at least 1 week after something is due. Additionally, communicate to students that you will be putting in 0s for absent assignments. If you will still take the work, also let them know that you will welcome the work but the 0 is a placeholder until they submit.

Continue to communicate with Lab faculty as the need arises.
Continue to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Continue to connect with CU as you need support or have questions.

Remind students to complete the mid-point evaluations (link is in the middle week of your course).
Provide an update to students about their performance in the course. This can be written or video. This should include:
Recognition of their strengths and unique contributions to the course
Identify things that they have not completed yet.
Encouragement about the ways they can grow in the remaining course time.
