Review the Grade & Narrative Evaluation Submission Guidelines for guidance on:
Posting end of semester narratives for students in Moodle
Entering final official grades in Campus Cafe
note: grades are calculated in Moodle and final official grades are entered in Campus Cafe
Submitting Incomplete (“I”) grades for students
The gradebook only reflects entered grades. This means if a student has submitted a few assignments but missed most of the other assignments; their actual grade will not be reflected in the gradebook until 0s are put in.
To reflect actual grades, faculty must put in 0s for missing work. Notify students in advance of updating your gradebook with 0s and be sure to indicate if you will accept late assignments in the feedback with the 0.
Wanna make sure you've got everything graded in the course? Check out the GradeMe feature in Moodle (2:26 minutes)!
Official midterm and final grades must be entered in Campus Cafe.
At midterm and end-of-term, students are encouraged to complete the Midterm & Final Course Evaluation. The link to this evaluation is included in Moodle for each course at these two points in the term. Responses are anonymous and the feedback is provided to faculty the week after it is collected.
Be sure to remind your students to complete the (anonymous) midterm evaluations. We recommend you post an announcement with a proposed deadline.
Mid-semester Feedback for Students provide an opportunity to pull back from regular interactions with students to give them a brief summary of where they are to date in class. There is a written guidance & template language and this video (4:17 minutes) to walk through how to do it.
Here’s where mid-semester feedback should go.
Go into your Moodle course
For session 1 or 2 courses, go to Week 4; For session 3 courses, go to Week 8
Select 📝 Mid-Semester Feedback for Students
Select the blue button, “Grade”

Note: You can do written, audio or video feedback–whatever you think makes sense for you and your students.
Narrative Evaluations are a brief final note to each student with individualized feedback that will help them continue to develop as learners and to achieve their goals.
