Overview

Per the ACT WorkKeys website, ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system that helps employers select, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce. This series of tests measures foundational and soft skills and offers specialized assessments to target instructional needs.

As part of ACT's Work Readiness System, ACT WorkKeys has helped millions of people in high schools, colleges, professional associations, businesses, and government agencies build their skills to increase global competiveness and develeop successful career pathways.

Successful completion of ACT WorkKeys assessments in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information can lead to earning ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate, a portable credential earned by more than 2.3 million people acress the United States.

North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

1. What is the North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)?

The CRC is a portable credential that shows employers you have fundamental work placs skills required.

2. How do I get the Career Readiness Certification?

You will take three 55 minute WorkKeys tests that measure your skills in: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information.

3. What is WorkKeys?

WorkKeys is a skills assessment tool recognized by thousands of companies in the United States. The WorkKeys system profiles thousands of jobs to determine what specific skills are required for each. Scores on the tests will determine your skill level and what certificate you will earn. Certificates are above.

4. How will the CRC benefit me?

  • The CRC can be presented with an application/resume to verify your skills to employers.

  • The CRC may increase your chances of getting a job.

  • The CRC can be used as a tool to make better decisions about education after high school.

PREPARNG FOR THE TEST

Students who are required to take the assessment will be identified in the fall of their senior year. Mrs. O'Boyle/Mr. Sennett will inform students if they are required to test. The test administration will take place on NWSA 's campus through an online platform.

A GOLD National Career Readiness Certificate is awarded to an individual who scores a Level 5 or above on all WorkKeys assessments—Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. This credential is registered with ACT in the National Career Readiness Certificate database and may be verified at http://www.act.org/certificate/verify.html.
