About Me...

​My name is Elaine Friar, Rocky River's Career Development Coordinator.  You can find me in the Career Center (next to Student Services).  My husband, Jeff, and I moved to Charlotte in 2000.  I graduated from Winthrop with a BS in Business Education and from the University of Maryland with a Masters in Education.  After being a business education teacher for 22 years, I began my Career Development Coordinator position in 2015.

 Set your goal to join:

National Technical Honor Society:

To be nominated, students must: 

1.  Be a Junior or Senior 

2.  In a CTE class currently with an A

3.  Have an unweighted GPA of 3.0

4.  Have had a CTE class before in high school

5.  No discipline issues

6.  Recommendation of current CTE Teacher 

Students will be nominated at the end of first semester and in the spring.

• Determine your interests.

• Determine what kinds of jobs fit your interests.

• Determine the level of education you will need.

• Set short- and long-term goals.  Don't forget those soft skills.

• Prepare your resume and career portfolio.

• Consider creating your own webpage.

• Practice your interview skills and continue to build your soft skills!
