Types of Internships
Seniors have two options for participating in work-based learning internships.
Option 1
Student-Initiated Placement allows students who already have a job or know an employer willing to hire them to work with the WBL Coordinator and school counselor to create a schedule that supports both work and school. The job must align with the student’s CTE Program of Study or future career goals, and all placements must be approved before starting.
Option 2
Employer-Initiated Opportunities are job openings posted by local businesses. Eligible students can apply and interview for open positions. Click here to review current open positions (page 3)
Are you ready to apply for an internship?
Students applying for internships under Option 1 – Student-Initiated Option must ensure that they have spoken with their employer and received their agreement for the student to participate in work-based learning. Additionally, they will need to provide the following information: the name of their supervisor, their phone number, their email address, and the location of the business. The Work-Based Learning Coordinator will contact the employer to conduct an initial site visit and discuss expectations as part of the application process.
For both Option 1 and Option 2, students must also provide two teachers or mentors as references and their email addresses.
