We the Students Essay Contest

We are excited to announce the launch of the 2018-2019 We the Students Essay Contest. Winners of this year’s contest will receive a total of $20,000 in scholarship funds including a $5,000 award and a scholarship to 2019 Constitutional Academy to the grand prize winner. This year we are asking students to personalize their essays while encouraging them to expand their understanding of citizenship beyond an abstract concept, envisioning it as knowledge and actions inspired by America’s founding principles.

TN Promise Scholarship- FASFA DEADLINE

Tennessee Promise provides students a last-dollar scholarship, meaning the scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or state student assistance funds. Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institution offering an associate’s degree program. There are no GPA or ACT requirements to qualify, but students must apply by November 1 at http://tennesseepromise.gov and complete student checklist.

GROTE Chemistry Scholarship

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announces the Grote Chemistry Scholarship Program for 2018. It awards $12,000 ($3,000 per year for four years) to as many as three freshmen majoring in Chemistry. Must have a 3.5 or higher GPA, A or B in a high school chemistry course, ACT composite score of 26, and declare a chemistry major at UTC. The Westbrook Scholarship

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announces the Westbrook Scholarship Program for 2019. Awards of $12,000 ($3,000 per year for four years) will be presented to as many as ten entering freshmen majoring in Chemistry or Physics. The awards are renewable over a four-year period and can be added to other University scholarships and the Tennessee Lottery scholarship. The Howard L. Westbrook Scholarship fund was established in 1993 by alumnus Howard L. Jack Diller Education Award

The Nashville Predators Foundation has a Jack Diller Education Award that will be awarded to four deserving students that reside within the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. All high schools within this vicinity are encouraged to nominate two male and two female students for this prestigious college award. Each recipient will receive a scholarship in the amount of $2,500. NRA Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.) Grand Scholarship

Scholarships of up to $30,000 are open to current sophomores and juniors in high school with at least a 3.0 GPA. Memphis Tiger Scholarships

Students who have been admitted to the University of Memphis can now apply for departmental and need-based scholarships through the Tiger Scholarship Manager available through admitted students’ My Memphis portals. The deadline for most scholarships is February 1, 2016, and there are many opportunities available.

Daughters of the American Revolution award approximately $150,000 annually in scholarships. UT Martin S-STEM Scholarship

Students beginning college at UT Martin in the fall who are interested in industry, government, teaching, or graduate school in a STEM field (chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, or math) might be eligible to become a S-stem scholar. S-Stem scholars will receive a scholarship covering tuition and fees that can be renewed for 3 years based on financial need. Ned McWherter Scholars Program

The Ned McWherter Scholars Program is intended to encourage academically superior Tennessee high school seniors to attend college in Tennessee. Only 50 scholarships are awarded each year. Award amounts are up to $6,000 per academic year (i.e. $3,000 from TSAC and up to $3,000 from the college). Students must have a minimum 29 ACT Composite/1280 SAT and a minimum 3.5 GPA. Riding Forward Scholarships

Regions Bank is offering 30 Regions Riding Forward Scholarships to high school seniors and college students through a competitive essay contest about inspirational African-Americans.
