What is World Drumming?

World Music Drumming is a course designed for students to learn and perform styles of drumming and dance from major countries around the world in the traditional kinesthetic and aural/oral teaching method, or teaching through modeling rather than describing with words. Latin American, Ghanaian, and Caribbean styles of drumming and dance are the main regions of focus. Students are required to participate with an open mind and a willingness to try new things. In addition to learning how to play the drums and accessory instruments, students will learn about the cultural connections to each country the ensembles are related to.
