Welcome to the Orchestras Page!
Chamber Orchestra
The Chamber Orchestra will meet everyday in the Spring semester during 2nd period. This ensemble focuses on quality literature and string specific fundamentals as well as music theory fundamentals. The Chamber Orchestra will give two concerts in the Spring semester in addition to performing with the Symphony Orchestra for the Sunset Symphony Pops Concert in May. This ensemble is required for all string students.
Symphony Orchestra
The Symphony Orchestra is western music's quintessential performing ensemble. The Symphony Orchestra at LNE was created to give students the opportunity to expand their musical palette and to open the door to a more advanced repertoire, and a more impactful musical experience. The Symphony Orchestra is a club that will meet outside of the school day on Monday evenings. All students are expected to attend their required rehearsals. The Symphony Orchestra will give one pops concert in the Spring semester alongside Dawes, Culler, and Mickle middle schools. In May, the Symphony Orchestra will travel to Kansas City, Missouri to perform at Worlds of Fun, and to wrap up the year this ensemble will perform at graduation. String players are automatically placed into this ensemble. Wind and percussion players are admitted into the ensemble by audition only.

Rosin
A Note On Rosin As a general rule of thumb, violins and violas should look for "light" rosins and cellos and basses should look for "dark" rosins. Bass rosin generally says "bass rosin" on the container. Typically, boxed rosin is cheaper than caked forms and easier to manipulate. Caked rosin is higher-quality and more pure in composition. Either boxed or caked rosin will be fine. Looking for something custom? Check out these rosins: https://www.connollymusic.com/magic-rosin
