The Wind Ensemble is the flagship wind band at Lincoln Northeast. Members of the group have demonstrated a strong understanding of their instrument, and music fundamentals, allowing for the performance of more complex literature and a deeper level of music making. This group gives three performances in the Spring semester. The Wind Ensemble competes at district music contest and may have the opportunity to travel. To maintain instrument balance and ensemble integrity this ensemble is entrance by audition only.
The Symphonic Band is the ideal ensemble for players that are developing their skills on their instruments as well as their understanding of music fundamentals. This ensemble focuses on quality literature and instrument specific fundamentals as well as music theory fundamentals. The Symphonic Band gives three concerts in the Spring Semester and competes at the district music contest. This ensemble is open to all students.
Quarter two of the fall semester is dedicated to transitioning to concert band. Students will explore the wind band repertoire and develop a deeper sense of large ensemble concepts. Students will have the opportunity to audition for Nebraska All-State during this quarter. The concert band will perform at the Winter Expressions Concert in the LNE Auditorium in December.
Percussion students enrolled in marching band will automatically be placed in this course. The focus of this course is to develop personal and ensemble percussion skills. Students will perform with their respective wind band for concerts.
