Director of Choirs

Mr. Nicolas Caberos

Nic Caberos is the Director of Choirs at Lincoln Northeast High School. At LNE, Mr. Caberos directs Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Voices 'N' Harmony, and Dynamix Show Choirs, and has taught or assisted with LNE Singers, Orchestra, Guitar, Symphonic Band, and Marching Band. Mr. Caberos has also been a music director and played in the pit for several musicals at LNE, Nic can be found adjudicating, choreographing, and doing clinics with many show choirs, competitions, and musicals across the midwest. He is an avid performer of musicals and operas, especially in his time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received his undergraduate degree in Music Education. At UNL, he was Dance Captain for the Big Red Singers, and was a member of University Singers, Chamber Singers, Varsity Chorus, Varsity Men's Glee Club, and was the chorusmaster for UNL's annual opera "Amahl and the night Visitors." He is also a founding member of the Nebraska Festival Singers, and Sonus Chorum, both semi-professional/community choirs in Nebraska. 

Music Accompanist

Mr. Sean Lebita

Sean Lebita, originally from Lincoln, NE graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2022 with a BM in Piano Performance and studied under Dr. Paul Barnes. He started playing piano in 2007. While at UNL, Sean performed with the UNL Jazz Orchestra, Graduate Jazz Combo, various chamber ensembles, and was in demand as an accompanist.  In 2018, he won the Nebraska MTNA Young Artist Competition for piano. He was also awarded the Glenn Korff School of Music Distinguished Undergraduate Artist/Scholar award in 2021. Sean’s diverse set of skills allows him to be a classical and jazz pianist, accompanist, and chamber musician. He frequently performs solo and with ensembles in the Lincoln-Omaha area, including with his jazz trio, the Prism Trio. Sean is a member of the Lincoln Music Teachers Association and collaborates with fellow pianists while teaching and performing online.

Mrs. Amy Thorpe

Amy Thorpe is in her twentieth year of teaching, her thirteenth year of teaching at Lincoln Northeast High School.  She directs Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, LNE Singers and Voices ‘N’ Harmony (Varsity Show Choir).  Mrs. Thorpe also serves as the Music Department Chair and co-produces the annual school musical and “Rock Show”.   Prior to LNE, Mrs. Thorpe taught for Sedalia Public Schools in Missouri for four years where she taught Middle School Vocal Music, Music Theatre, Music Appreciation and choreographed for award winning Color-Guards, Winter-Guards and Show Choirs. Mrs. Thorpe started her professional experience in Warsaw, Missouri where she taught 6-12 grade instrumental music for three years. Mrs. Thorpe, a Lincoln High School Alumnae, graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education, Instrumental/Vocal from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 2001. She is in her third year of working towards a Masters in Music Education, from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.  In 1998, Mrs. Thorpe, who studied flute with Dr. John Bailey, had the opportunity to perform at the National MENC Convention in Arizona with the UNL Wind Ensemble and also served as the Head Drum Major for the Cornhusker Marching Band from 1998-2001. Among many great traveling opportunities, she most enjoyed her opportunity to tour Ireland and London, England during the spring of 2000 with the UNL music department.  In her eleven years at LNE, she has produced “Seussical”, “Into The Woods”, “Christmas Carol”, “Hairspray”, “Sweeney Todd”, “High School Musical”, “Grease”, “Wizard of Oz”, “South Pacific”, “The Addams Family”, “Shrek” and "Les Miserables".  She has also held performance roles in “South Pacific”, “Damn Yankees” and “Cinderella”.  Mrs. Thorpe and her husband Tom Thorpe celebrated their 16-year anniversary last spring. Tom teaches Instrumental Music at Lincoln East High School. They have two sons, Thomas and Myles of  Northeast High School and Mickle Middle School.  Mrs. Thorpe is a member of NMEA, NAfME, NCDA, NSBA, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Honors Jazz

Mr. Esman Rodas Calderon

Esman Rodas Calderon received their Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in August 2022 with an emphasis in Euphonium. In his second year, he teaches at Northeast HS, McPhee, Prescott, Everett, and Saratoga Elementary schools.

At Northeast, Mr.Rodas Calderon teaches Honors Jazz. In addition, he also teaches 5th grade band at a handful of schools in downtown Lincoln. Providing beginning band lessons in both English and Spanish, he is passionate about teaching in Title I schools, providing equitable outcomes for all students.

Incoming Director of Bands

Mr. Damon Lamberty

Damon Lamberty received a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of South Dakota in 2019. While a graduate student at USD, Lamberty assisted with the Sound of USD Marching Band, the Opera and Symphony Orchestras, and the Concert Band. 

 

Mr. Lamberty then joined the staff at Cambridge Public Schools as director of 5-12 instrumental music in 2020, where he taught band, guitar, music cultures of the world, and history of rock and roll. 

 

An active percussionist, Mr. Lamberty has traveled the Midwest and several European countries with various ensembles. In April 2011, he was awarded the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Hixson-Lied Young Artist Award for Music Composition. 

 

Mr. Lamberty currently works as director of bands at Schoo Middle School in Lincoln while maintaining regular performance engagements with the Lincoln Civic Orchestra. While not at school, Lamberty enjoys reading science fiction novels, cooking, and fishing.

Gabrielle Brady

Gabrielle Brady is an undergraduate Music Education Major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. Gabrielle’s music emphasis is in percussion, and she currently studies under Dr. Dave Hall. She has participated and been involved in many ensembles on campus between the Cornhusker Marching Band, UNL Percussion Ensemble, Nebraska Steel, Symphonic Band and many other student recitals and groups. Gabrielle is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. She is from Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from Ankeny High School in 2021. She spent 4 years in the Ankeny Marching Hawks, and will now be going on in her 2nd year in the Cornhusker Marching Band.

Addy Ubele

Addy Ubele is from Omaha, Nebraska. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Addy is also involved with the Flagline in the Cornhusker Marching Band and is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, which is a National Honorary Band Service Fraternity. She has also been involved with Campus Bands within the Glenn Korff School of Music. She graduated from Gretna High School in 2021. During her time there she was involved with the Gretna Marching Dragons for four years, Color Guard/Winter Guard for three years, Choir for all four years, and finally Show Choir for two years.
