Fine Arts Education includes the following areas: Visual Arts Education, Music Education, and Theater Arts. Students must take a full year of the same course to meet the one credit of Fine Arts high school graduation requirement.
Art I (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This introductory course focuses on the fundamentals of visual art, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and design. Students will explore elements and principles of art, develop creative techniques, and learn art history and appreciation. Through hands-on projects, students will build foundational skills and express themselves artistically.
Art II (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This course builds on the foundational skills from Art I, focusing on advanced techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Students will explore more complex design principles, creative problem-solving, and personal artistic expression. The course emphasizes portfolio development and a deeper appreciation of art history and contemporary practices.
Art III (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This advanced course focuses on refining artistic techniques and developing a personal style. Students will create complex works in various mediums while exploring art history, contemporary trends, and cultural influences. Emphasis is placed on independent projects, critique, and portfolio preparation for higher education or professional opportunities in the arts.
Art IV (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This capstone course emphasizes mastery of artistic skills and the development of a cohesive portfolio. Students will focus on advanced techniques, personal expression, and professional presentation. Through independent projects and critiques, students will prepare for careers, exhibitions, or further studies in the arts.
Art Appreciation Dual Credit (HS Credit 0.5, College Hours 3) Grades: 11-12
A general introduction to the visual arts designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, media, techniques, and purposes of the creative process. Students will critically interpret and evaluate works of art within formal, cultural, and historical contexts. Class will be enrolled in and taken through a corresponding college program.
Student must meet TSI and GPA requirements
Music I Band (1 Credit) Grade: 9
This course provides an opportunity for students to continue instrumental development. The band will perform at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts and festivals. Time will be required outside of school for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Attendance at all outside of school rehearsals and performances will be required to fulfill course requirements. This is a full-year course.
Music II Band (1 Credit) Grade: 10
This is a continuation of Band I. The band will perform at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts and festivals. Time will be required outside of school for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Attendance at all outside of school rehearsals and performances will be required to fulfill course requirements. This is a full-year course.
Music III Band (1 Credit) Grade: 11
This is a continuation of Band II. The band will perform at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts and festivals. Time will be required outside of school for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Attendance at all outside of school rehearsals and performances will be required to fulfill course requirements. This is a full-year course.
Music IV Band (1 Credit) Grade: 12
This is a continuation of Band III. The band will perform at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts and festivals. Time will be required outside of school for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Attendance at all outside of school rehearsals and performances will be required to fulfill course requirements. This is a full-year course.
Jazz Band (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This course offers students the opportunity to explore and perform a variety of jazz styles, including swing, blues, Latin, and funk. Students will develop skills in improvisation, ensemble playing, and jazz theory while studying influential jazz musicians and their impact on the genre. Emphasis is placed on rhythmic precision, expressive playing, and collaboration. Open to students with prior instrumental experience, this course provides an exciting, hands-on approach to jazz performance and musicianship.
Music Appreciation (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This course explores the history, elements, and cultural significance of music. Students will study various genres, composers, and musical styles while developing listening skills and an understanding of music's role in society. The course fosters a deeper appreciation for the art of music and its influence across time and cultures.
Music Application (1 Credit) Grades: 9-12
This course focuses on the practical study of music, including performance, composition, and music theory. Students will develop skills in reading music, playing instruments, and applying techniques to create and interpret musical works. The course emphasizes hands-on learning and personal growth in musical expression.
Music Appreciation Dual Credit (HS Credit 0.5, College Hours 3) Grades: 11-12
Understanding music through the study of cultural periods, major composers, and musical elements. Illustrated with audio recordings and live performances. (Does not apply to a music major degree.) Class will be enrolled in and taken through a corresponding college program.

Basic acting techniques, technical theater, literature, terminology, history, voice & dictation and the fundamentals of play production are introduced. Students will experience the production process through performance, directing and criticism. Students will be required to read plays and see live theatrical productions.

An extension of basic acting techniques, technical theater, literature, terminology, history, voice & dictation and the fundamentals of play production are examined.
