Today, every human activity is dependent upon various tools, machines, and systems, from growing food and providing shelter to communication, healthcare, and entertainment. In this unit, students will explore how technology has advanced to meet human wants and needs. Students will investigate how these technological advancements have impacted our society. Through investigation, students will analyze the consequences of various technologies and make a decision regarding their use. Students will take part in a debate on controversial technology and be asked to utilize evidence and reasoning in support of their claim. Students will conduct research on a chosen technology that has evolved overtime and analyze its four consequences, intended and undesirable, un-intended and desirable, intended and desirable, and unintended and desirable. Students will utilize design software to visually communicate the evolution of the technology and predict the future technology based on technological trends.
