Psychology is the fascinating study of the human mind and behaviour. It will give you an insight into both yourself and other people. It utilises a critical understanding of theories and research around explain human behaviour in order to present explanations of why people do what they do and discuss the relative merits of each explanation.
Studying Psychology will compliment many other A Level subjects as it gives you a grounding in scientific theory, statistical analysis and essay writing skills.
We believe that the transferable skill of critical analysis it of huge value. The ability to evaluate the merit of information is a life skill. Additionally, the course will help you to develop your research methods understanding and skills, which many old Walconians feel had immense value on their university courses and in the workplace. Communication skills are honed through the need to produce focused, precise and concise answers, and also through an appreciation of the use of subject specific terminology.
Gaining subject specific knowledge will give you a greater understanding about yourself and other people which will help you to develop you interpersonal skills.
You can go on to pursue many different career paths such as clinical, organisation, counselling, sports, research and forensic Psychology to name just a few.
