The department’s vision is to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to build a healthy, inclusive and sustainable world. We aim to develop students who have the confidence, motivation and academic flair to make a difference in the society, in whatever capacity that may be.
In the Lower Sixth, we study business, management and leadership and decision-making in various contexts (leadership, marketing, operations, finance and human resources). The focus is on looking at the details of how businesses are run.
In the Upper Sixth, we look mainly at the strategic side of business. We look at strategy via internal and external factors, strategic options, strategic direction, strategic methods and strategic change.
We proudly participate annually in the Young Enterprise competition.
In our Business Pathways group, we have also offered students the exciting opportunity to be part of the Business Tycoon competition. Once again, we have had backing and success.

Economics is more conceptual and looks at the whole economy and whole markets and industries; Business is more practical, focused on real-world businesses and looks at individual businesses and why they succeed or fail.
