From September 2026 we will offer Business BTEC at CHS, which students can study alongside A-levels.
Business BTEC helps students develop practical skills that are highly valued by employers and universities. The course brings the world of business to life, from marketing campaigns and financial planning to managing events and exploring how global organisations operate.
BTEC Business is an alternative to A-level for students who wish to focus on real-world projects and applied learning. You will develop an understanding of how businesses make decisions, adapt to change, and compete in the marketplace. This provides excellent grounding for those who aim to work in management, finance, marketing, law - or lead their own enterprise.
BTEC Business enables students to progress to university, apprenticeships or the workplace.
Assessment
Unblike most A-levels, assessment in BTEC Business is through coursework, practical assignments exams, with tasks based on realistic business scenarios.
Your final grade is built up across the course, giving you regular feedback and the opportunity to improve as you progress, which may suit those students who perform best through consistent effort and real-world application rather than one-off exams.
Grades are awarded as Distinction*, Distinction, Merit and Pass.
What should I do if I am interested in Business BTEC?
If you firmly believe at this stage you would like to choose to study BTEC Business qualification, you can indicate whether you would like to study it as 1 A-level, 2 A-level or 3 A-level equivalent on the Choices form.
If you select 1 A-level equivalent, select 2 additional A-levels.
If you select 2 A-level equivalent, select 1 additional A-level.
If you select 3 A-level equivalent, do not select any A-levels .
If you are interested in BTEC but at this stage would just like more information, select A-level choices but then tick the box for 'I am interested in BTEC Business' and/or 'I am interested in BTEC Sport'.
At this stage we cannot guarantee the final range of BTEC combinations.
