The Gold Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it's creative, valuable and accessible.
Whatever art form you’re interested in, whatever your ability, Arts Award fits you.
You can do an Arts Award in any area of the arts from fashion to poetry, rapping to dancing, sculpture to film. You can be an artists or performer, or develop your skills in essential roles like marketing or stage management.

The Arts Award Gold is a unique enrichment opportunity for those students with an interest in Art, Drama, Dance, Photography, Music and any other aspect of the Creative and Performing Arts. The Gold Arts Award is a Level 3 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is designed for ages 16 and above. The award has 16 points on the UCAS tariff.
To achieve a Gold Arts Award, young people collect evidence in an individual arts portfolio of their experiences of Personal Arts Development (unit 1) and Leadership of an arts project (unit 2) where they will plan, lead and manage their own arts project such as a fashion show, art exhibition or music event. This can be done collaboratively or individually.
You will have timetabled sessions, supported on your Arts Award journey by our CHS Arts Award advisers Claire Bennett (Art Textiles) and Clare Harms (Director of Drama) acting as assessors, facilitators and mentors.

Moderation and Certification
Arts award are currently conducting moderations remotely via digital online submission. Remote online moderation replaces all their normal face-to-face and postal moderation options and will be the only moderation option available to our centres until we are able to return to our normal processes.
Are there any GCSE requirements?
No GCSE requirements needed, just a genuine interest in developing your skills within any aspect of the creative or performing arts genre.
How much time is needed to complete the course?
90 guided learning hours + 60 independent learning hours = 150 hours’ total qualification time over the course of one academic year.
How do I collect evidence and how is it assessed?
You will create an arts log or portfolio by collecting evidence of your arts journey and skills development. These can take any format from drawing and blogging to photography and video (examples at voicemag.uk/artsaward/portfolios)
Once young people have completed their arts log or portfolio, it is assessed internally by the adviser. An external moderator then validates this assessment through a moderation
How many UCAS points is the Gold Arts Award accredited?
Gold Arts Award is recognised on the UCAS Tariff system and is accredited with 16 points. Students applying to University, who are working towards or have achieved a Gold Arts Award will be able to include it as they would do other subjects when completing their UCAS application form.
How does 16 Tariff points compare to other qualifications on the Tariff?
Other comparable tariff points are - AS Level qualification B Grade (16 points), Certificate in Higher Sports Leadership (16 points) and Music graded Examinations Grade 7 Distinction (16 points).
