Launched in September 2021, we have three Heads of Hall as part of a vertical pastoral structure in the Sixth Form which each Head of Hall responsible for a combination of Year 12 and Year 13 Forms.
Chadderton Hall - Mrs Barfoot
Park Place Hall - Mr Cawtherley
Shaw Hall - Mrs Hull
The names of each Hall are strongly rooted within the history of the School. Before finding a permanent home at our current site, the school was originally based at Shaw Hall in Flixton in 1855 before moving to Chadderton Hall. Six years later it moved to two terraced houses in Ardwick, Park Place, before settling at its current location in Cheadle Hulme in 1869. We feel that it’s important that we incorporate our history and heritage wherever possible so the students understand the founding ethos and traditions of the School.
Whilst there will still be times when we need to address pupils in Year group assemblies, these changes have allowed us to:
Have more staff supporting students both academically and pastorally;
Enhance greater integration between Year 12 and Year 13;
Enhance the co-curricular provision in the Sixth Form by creating opportunities for inter Hall events and competitions;
Create more leadership opportunities for students;
Build a strong sense of identity and belonging within each Hall.
The Year 12 Forms are finalised after Results Day in August each year, with the aim of providing a fresh start for all whilst integrating new pupils to CHS.
