Allen is a native of Ruleville, Mississippi, and received his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University in 2009. While at Mississippi State, he enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard and enrolled in the ROTC program. 

Allen was commissioned as an Army Aviation Officer in 2009 and completed the Aviation Officer’s Basic Course and Initial Entry Rotary Wing Training at Fort Rucker, Alabama, in 2011 where he was trained to fly the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior scout reconnaissance helicopter.  He served in various leadership capacities during his 8 years of active service which included a deployment to Afghanistan and company command. His professional awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Assault Badge and Army Aviator Badge. Allen also earned a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification while on active service and a Certificate of Project Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2017.

Following his military service in 2017, Allen served as a Financial Systems Analyst for Federal Express in Collierville, Tennessee. He is currently the Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A at The Shoppes at Bartlett in Bartlett, Tennessee, which opened in April 2018. He and the Shoppes at Bartlett team were recently selected by Chick-fil-A to open a second location on Austin Peay Highway in February 2023. He and his wife, Lindsay, reside in Eads, Tennessee and have four children - Jane Allen, Bennett, Baird and Georgia.
