Every year, we elect new School Council representatives from each class (years 2-6). They will be responsible for communicating their class's ideas and wants as well as participating in numerous co-curricular activities.
Here are some examples of what our School Councils have changed over the past few years:
The school council arranged two fundraising projects to make effective changes that they wanted to see in their school environments. Through a bake sale, we raised funds for mirrors in the bathrooms and used the profit from our Festival of Light Stall too contribute towards new hooks for the classrooms.
Every summer, the School Council take part in the Great British Litter Pick! A nation wide campaign to clean up our local streets and encourage others to take pride in their community.
The School Council was awarded a small grant to improve an outdoor space on the school site. They chose to create a living 'learning space', complete with a growing green wall to enclose an outdoor classroom.
The School Council work with the ECO Council to help with Litterpicking around the school site and soemtimes our local area. These pupils have worked hard by taking action to look after their school environment. This has included using litter pickers, reminding others to put their rubbish in the bin and sharing information about the positives of recycling.
Our School Council help run the awareness days that we have acknowledged over the past few years. They have an active role in judging the Christmas Jumper competition for Save the Children, helping to cover pudsey in coins for Children in Need and have even had starring roles in our school video for 'Showing Racism the Red Card.'
