A core component of our Careers programme involves creating genuine and impactful encounters with the professional world. We work to collaborate with many different professionals—from bus drivers and artists to dog trainers and engineers—to offer our children broad and inspiring exposure to a range of careers. Our ultimate aim is for students not only to confidently link careers to their learning in the classroom, but also to utilize their agency to explore what other careers exist for their areas of interest.
This means that when a student develops a passion for animals, architecture, or coding, we want to connect them with people in those fields. By deliberately gaining this information through curriculum focus and student feedback, we are able to provide bespoke opportunities, including speakers, children-led Q&A sessions, and immersive workshops, so the children can get a crucial first-person perspective on various job roles. As most of our workshops are hands-on; children get to see exactly what the professionals do.
Furthermore, where possible, some of these immersive workshops involve trips to the workplace, keeping the link between their classroom learning and the exciting possibilities of their future. We find these direct, memorable interactions are essential for raising aspirations and helping every child envision their potential place in the world of work.
