The Gatsby Benchmarks are a set of eight clear guidelines that define what school career provision should look like. Although they were primarily designed for secondary schools, we apply the principles from the earliest age to make sure our children are curious, ambitious, and ready for their next steps.
The Gatsby Benchmarks:
1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from career and labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupils
4. Linking curriculum teaching to careers
5. Encounters with employers and employees
6. Experiences of workplaces
7. Encounters with further and higher education
8. Personal guidance
Throughout our Careers Curriculum we cover the range of benchmarks, specifically offering the children encounters with employers and employees and embedding our Careers programme throughout our curriculum. We are also starting to explore the area of personal guidance by trialling the use of skills builder resources. This will allow the children to start to address the skills they would like to practise more and identify their strengths.
